We are looking for a project quality engineer to join our team and help ensure the highest of standards of quality across some of the most exciting engineering projects in the UK. If you thrive in a fast paced environment and want to make a real impact from concept to completion this is the role for you!

We are a Sheffield based engineering business known for delivering precision, innovation and reliability in complex mechanical handling systems. From defense and Nuclear to Sport and entertainment, our projects push boundaries and so do our people!

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend internal design and external quality meetings to facilitate QC requirements
  • Assess product specifications and customer requirements
  • Generate manufacturing specifications from client's requirements
  • Generate overarching Inspection & Test Plans for projects
  • Ensure compliance with national and international standards
  • Ensure procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated, and that product modifications are investigated if necessary
  • Liaise and manage with customer QC to facilitate all of the QA requirements on a project
  • Perform internal and supplier audits against project requirements
  • Carry out manufacturing inspections on suppliers’ premises
  • Expediting suppliers to ensure approval and final documents are received on time
  • Act as key contact with customers' auditors and take responsibility for ensuring the execution of corrective actions and ongoing compliance with customers' specifications
  • Assess suppliers' product specifications, quality plans & ITP’s
  • Check drawing for manufacturability
  • Update the quality system as and when required
  • Write project quality requirements from client specifications.

Essential

  • Knowledge of statistics is required with general numeracy, coupled with good interpersonal skills. The job function covers all aspects of a work group's or company's operation and requires the ability to assimilate and analyse information.
  • Thorough understanding of the mechanical and electrical handling industry
  • Ability to read technical drawings
  • Experience of working within a Quality Team
  • Experience with compiling LTQR’s and other Quality related documents
  • Good attention to detail
  • Have a systematic and disciplined approach to work; ability to plan, schedule and monitor own work within limited and defined timescales
  • Excellent communication skills with clients and staff at all levels
  • Fluent with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
