What You’ll Do…

As a Senior Quality Engineer – IQC, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that all incoming materials—from powders and liquids to structural components—meet rigorous technical specifications and customer requirements. You’ll work within the Incoming Quality Control (IQC) labs, performing and managing testing activities, supporting problem resolution, and driving improvements in inspection processes.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams and collaborate with Agratas manufacturing sites globally, contributing to the development of best practices and continuous improvement in quality operations.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform and manage IQC lab activities including sample collection, handling, testing, and material release.
  • Evaluate raw materials such as NMC, graphite, electrolyte, foils, and structural parts using advanced analytical techniques.
  • Support electrode manufacturing and assess electrochemical properties of coin cells.
  • Conduct MSA studies and ensure calibration and reliability of lab equipment.
  • Contribute to key initiatives aligned with functional OKRs and quality KPIs.
  • Recommend and support the implementation of advanced testing equipment and lab design improvements.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and control plans for incoming materials.
  • Participate in Design FMEA activities and implement robust detection and prevention controls.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve inspection processes and share insights across global sites.
  • Manage and develop a team of Engineers and Technicians within the IQC lab.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the team, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.

Who We Are…

Agratas is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons. We will design, develop and manufacture high-quality, high-performance, sustainable batteries for the mobility and energy sectors. We are a scale-up business with a start-up mentality and the backing of a well-established parent company. The UK business headquarters is in the Midlands and we are currently building a battery manufacturing facility in Bridgwater, Somerset.

The Team You’ll Join…

The Quality team is a dynamic group working across three areas - company quality, product quality, and plant quality. Being a relatively new team, you’ll play a critical part in creating and implementing new processes and help building large scale manufacturing lines from the ground up.

What You’ll Bring…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in chemical testing of battery materials or similar QC environments.
  • Familiarity with analytical equipment (e.g., ICP-OES, GC, PSA, BET, KF titration).
  • Experience with LIMS/MES integrations and sampling method development.
  • Understanding of quality management systems such as ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Proven experience in supervising or managing a small team in a laboratory or quality control environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to coordinate team activities effectively.
