About the Organisation
Bouygues Travaux Publics (BTP) and Laing O’Rourke, two of Europe’s most dynamic engineering and construction specialists, have joined forces in a joint venture named BYLOR to deliver the main civil engineering works at Hinkley Point C (HPC), a £2.8+ billion project.
BYLOR is pioneering innovation and modern technology while ensuring high-quality construction on a large scale. Their achievements include breaking the UK record for the largest continuous concrete pour of 9,000m³.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a forward-thinking organisation that is challenging industry norms and creating history.
Purpose of the Role
Support the Quality Manager in establishing and overseeing the implementation of quality management arrangements, assessing effectiveness, and driving improvement projects to optimise quality systems.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Quality System Delivery:
- Implement, cascade, train, brief BYLOR teams, suppliers and contractors on Project Requirements and BYLOR Quality Management System, including plans, procedures, guidelines and templates.
- Develop and provide high-quality training materials as required.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Review, comment on, and assist in preparing quality deliverables, such as:
- Quality Plans
- Inspection & Test Plans
- Quality Records
- Records Templates and other execution records and submissions
- Ensure all non-conformance issues are properly identified, root causes assessed, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) defined and implemented.
- Approve Quality records (part of the Life-Time Quality Records process) to demonstrate traceability and compliance for the Client.
- Monitor quality outputs/KPIs, track progress, and optimize continuous improvement initiatives.
- Review, comment on, and assist in preparing quality deliverables, such as:

Handover & Transition Support:
- Actively support the handover process as completed areas near client acceptance, focusing on records management systems and ensuring outstanding quality actions are resolved.

Quality Issues & Escalation:
- Intervene when quality risks or issues arise, assessing the impact and taking prompt corrective action.
- Escalate escalation to senior management if required to ensure swift resolution.

Quality Improvement Initiatives:
- Identify areas of improvement, define actions and follow through for implementation.

Policy Promotion: Promote the various BYLOR management policies, objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Key Skills & Competencies
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to present quality matters effectively to project teams, contractors and Client stakeholders.
- Organisation & Multitasking: Highly structured approach to planning and performing multiple demands simultaneously.
Working Arrangements
This role is primarily on-site at Hinkley Point C (Somerset, UK), with regular visits required for audits and inspections to external facilities and stakeholders.
