About The Role
The Quality Engineer position at BAE Critical Skills is a pivotal role within the organization, responsible for ensuring that finished products meet stringent quality standards and customer expectations. This role involves verifying the accuracy and workmanship of products, identifying non-conformances, and documenting issues with precision. The Quality Engineer collaborates closely with technicians, production teams, and stakeholders across departments to uphold quality assurance processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will play a key part in safeguarding product integrity by maintaining compliance with industry standards such as ISO 9001, supporting internal and external audits, and managing quality issues effectively. The role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic environment, contributing to high-stakes projects in a highly controlled manufacturing setting, primarily based at the Glascoed site in Monmouthshire, with potential travel within the UK and overseas.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a qualification in an engineering discipline, such as Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or have equivalent experience gained through extensive industry practice. An engineering, mathematics, or science degree is highly desirable. Proven experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment—preferably in sectors like aerospace, automotive, nuclear, or medical devices—is essential. Candidates should be proficient in quality investigation techniques such as 8D, 5 Whys, and Ishikawa diagrams. Strong analytical skills, the ability to coordinate data collection, and effective stakeholder engagement are critical. Excellent communication skills are necessary to influence and collaborate across various levels of the organization. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for supplier and customer reviews, audits, and site visits is also required.
Responsibilities
- Ensure operational compliance to product specifications and quality standards, including ISO 9001.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing quality and efficiency.
- Manage and resolve quality issues, supporting both internal and external audit processes.
- Review shop floor records, technical specifications, drawings, and inspection documentation to approve products and Certificates of Conformity.
- Monitor, analyze, and report reject data and quality concerns to relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with export customers to understand their specific product and quality requirements.
- Raise concessions and manage associated paperwork to facilitate product delivery in line with customer requirements.
- Travel within the UK and overseas for supplier assessments, customer visits, and audits as necessary.
- Support the development and implementation of quality management systems and best practices across the organization.
