Job Description

We are a well-established precision CNC subcontract machining company supplying high-quality components to customers across aerospace, defence, oil & gas, motorsport and other advanced engineering sectors. Operating to AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards, we are committed to delivering exceptional quality, continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

Role

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all products and processes meet customer, regulatory and AS9100 requirements. The role will focus on CMM programming, inspection activities, quality improvement initiatives, non-conformance management and supporting the business in quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
  • Develop and maintain CMM inspection programmes for new and existing components.
  • Perform First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and customer specifications.
  • Produce inspection plans, quality documentation and inspection reports.
  • Investigate internal and external quality issues and lead root cause investigations using 8D.
  • Raise and manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), concessions and corrective actions.
  • Support production teams in reducing scrap, rework and quality escapes.
  • Support customer and third-party audits.
  • Monitor process capability, KPIs and quality performance metrics.
  • Assist with supplier quality activities and supplier performance improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements and all applicable regulatory standards.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a Quality Engineer role within a precision CNC machining environment.
  • Experience in programming and operating CMM equipment, preferably Aberlink.
  • Strong understanding of precision measurement and metrology techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and geometric tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience of AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Experience in completing First Article Inspection (AS9102) and PPAP.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes including turning, milling and multi-axis CNC machining.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office and quality reporting systems.

Permanent Position

  • Hourly rate: £18+ per hour (dependent on experience ) plus overtime (subject to requirements)
  • Working hours: Mon to Thurs 07:30-16:30, Fri 07:30-13:30.
  • 40 hrs per week

This role would suit an experienced Quality Engineer with strong CMM and aerospace quality systems knowledge who enjoys working in a fast-paced subcontract machining environment and driving continuous improvement across the business.
