Quality & Compliance Manager
Location: Heathrow Airport Salary: Circa £70,000pa (dependent on experience) Benefits: 28 Days Holiday + Bupa Private Medical Cover + Aviva Pension
Working Format: Hybrid – 3 days office, 2 days home, with occasional Heathrow site visits
About the Role
Our client, a global leader in logistics process automation, delivers cutting-edge solutions across airports, warehousing, and parcel sectors. This Quality & Compliance Manager position is pivotal in supporting major automation and engineering programs at Heathrow Airport, ensuring seamless integration of quality assurance, compliance, and continuous improvement across project delivery and maintenance operations.
About You
Experience required:
- An experienced Quality Manager, Compliance Manager, or Continuous Improvement professional.
- Strong background in engineering, manufacturing, automation, construction, logistics, or related technical industries.
- Experience in automated handling systems, airport infrastructure, or industrial automation environments is highly advantageous (desirable).
Key Responsibilities
Core Focus Areas:
- Drive a proactive "Right First Time" quality culture across engineering/operational teams.
- Maintain and evolve the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Ensure adherence to ISO 9001 and client-specific quality needs.
- Lead internal/external audit programs.
- Oversee project delivery (planning through warranty, including commissioning and handover).

Operational Roles:
- Manage corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) and root cause investigations.
- Execute continuous improvement initiatives across projects and maintenance contracts.
- Enhance supplier quality assurance and contractor performance management.
- Develop and deliver quality training and awareness programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Define/implement quality objectives, strategies, and performance targets.
- Lead improvement initiatives while coordinating across projects/functions.
- Maintain ISO 9001 compliance and optimise QMS.
- Plan/execute internal audits and support externals.
- Ensure quality mandates are met at all project stages.
- Monitor quality KPIs, risks, and CAPA trends.
- Direct investigations using methodologies (8D, 5 Whys, Failure Modes & Effects Analysis—FMEA).
- Facilitate CAPA processes and track completion.
- Govern supplier quality and contractor performance.
- Train, coach, and raise awareness on quality standards.
- Provide regular reporting to leadership teams.

Requirements
Essential:
- Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Construction, Quality Management or a related field.
- 5+ years in Quality Management, Compliance, or Technical Management roles.
- Technical expertise in engineering, manufacturing, automation, or construction.
- Competency in ISO 9001 QMS management and compliance.
- Track record leading internal and external audits.
- In-depth knowledge of quality assurance, control, and compliance processes.
- Experience with root cause analysis (8D, 5 Whys, FMEA).
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, leadership.
- Strong analytical/reporting skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- Experience with automated material handling systems (MHS) or airport automation.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 (Environmental) and ISO 45001 (Health & Safety) systems.
- Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification.
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement qualifications.
- CQI, IRCA or equivalent quality management certification.
- Hands-on experience in major project/service contracts quality performance management.
