Senior Quality Inspector
Location: Barrow-in-Furness
Duration: 12 months (maternity cover)
Hourly Rate: £32.65 PAYE or £43.93 Umbrella
37 Hours – Day shifts (3 on 4 off)
Full Time Onsite Role
The Opportunity
BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Quality Inspector to join our Quality team in Barrow-in-Furness. This role is responsible for carrying out inspection activities throughout the build process, ensuring products meet required quality standards, specifications and customer requirements.
Working as part of a professional Quality team, you will undertake inspections, support the resolution of non-conformances and contribute to the delivery of high-quality products on some of the UK's most complex engineering programmes.

What you'll be doing
- Carrying out inspections in accordance with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)
- Verifying product compliance using calibrated measuring equipment
- Recording and reviewing non-conformances and supporting corrective actions
- Producing inspection reports and quality documentation
- Supporting audits, customer walk-rounds and quality reviews
- Working closely with production, engineering and customer representatives
- Providing guidance and support to junior members of the Quality team
- Maintaining high standards of Safety, Health and Environment (SHE)

Skills & Experience
- Experience within a Quality Inspection role in a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and procedures
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or EN9100 would be advantageous
Qualifications
- HNC/NC in a relevant technical discipline, or
- Recognised trade apprenticeship/time-served background with equivalent experience
