Quality Inspector - Portsmouth, UK
Contract: 6 months (likely to extend) | Inside IR35
Rates: £35 per hour Umbrella / £26.26 PAYE
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quality Inspector to join our client in Portsmouth, supporting cutting-edge space and aerospace programmes. This Quality Inspector role offers the chance to work within a highly controlled cleanroom environment, ensuring production and testing activities meet world-class quality standards.
As a Quality Inspector, you will play a key role in ensuring products meet strict design and compliance standards throughout the production lifecycle. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing and quality teams to promote a "quality-first" culture and prevent non-conformities at every stage.

Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Monitor and uphold cleanroom quality processes
- Carry out detailed inspection and verification activities on flight hardware and test setups
- Ensure all work aligns with ECSS standards
- Identify and investigate non-conformities
- Support root cause analysis
- Contribute to process improvements
- Perform audits
- Complete documentation and verification checks
- Support key inspection points such as critical moves, testing readiness, and flight packing
- Maintain strict adherence to health and safety standards
- Ensure effective environmental controls within the cleanroom
Requirements
Essential:
- Experience within a Quality Inspector or similar quality assurance role
- Background in aerospace, defence, or a highly regulated manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of quality standards and inspection processes
- Experience identifying and resolving non-conformities
- Ability to work within cleanroom or controlled environments

- Familiarity with ECSS standards (e.g., ECSS-Q-ST-70 series)
- Experience supporting audits and root cause investigations
- Knowledge of inspection processes for flight hardware or high-precision components
