Interim Quality & Laboratory Technician
Manpower is recruiting an interim Quality & Laboratory Technician on behalf of our global FMCG client, The Magnum Ice Cream Company, home to iconic brands including Magnum, Ben & Jerry's, Cornetto and Wall's. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment and become part of a busy Quality team.
The role is based at the Barnwood site in Gloucester and is a full-time temporary position for 9 months, with the possibility of extension, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
The successful candidate will be available to start as soon as possible (with a maximum notice period of two weeks). The role offers a competitive salary of £28,800 per annum, pro rata.
Role Overview
We're looking for a proactive and organised Quality & Laboratory Technician to join our busy Quality team. This is a varied role supporting the day-to-day quality activities across the factory.
Please note: Although this role sits within the Quality Laboratory, it is not a laboratory-based position. Laboratory testing forms only a small part of the role. The majority of your time will be spent carrying out quality investigations, reporting, product assessments, supplier and quality support activities, collecting samples from across the factory and working closely with different departments to ensure products meet the required quality standards.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
