About the Opportunity

As the Quality Management Lead (QML) – Civils for Hinkley Point C, you’ll take ownership of quality assurance across the full project lifecycle, from contract award to close-out, ensuring all hydrogen standards, local regulations and global nuclear best practices are met.

Role Overview

As the QML – Civils, you will ensure supply-chain adherence to contractual quality assurance and control requirements, Strategic specialisation and nuclear or relevant sector. You are matched with programme-focused strategic technical objectives, advising programme/execution management on the requirements for quality, learning, and capability development. You are responsible for the effective delivery and implementation of quality solutions via pre-integration, integration, fabrication, assembly, installation, and project completion. This includes:

  • Ensuring compliance with the QML Handbook 1: The Integrated Function in APPs
  • Acting as an in-house technical competency supplier
  • Supporting HPC Programme delivery through continuous improvement, assurance, and implementation of professional, technical, commercial, innovation, sustainability, and safety requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement—address quality-related issues, implement improvements, and guide others in those efforts.
  • Review & manage Contractor Quality Assurance Plans (CQAP)—accept, monitor, and ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Plan supply chain audits—identify needs, engage auditors, and drive resolution of findings.
  • Develop Project Quality Control Plans (PQCP)—document contractual arrangements including:
    • General Quality Assurance Specification (GQAS)
    • Lifetime Quality Records Specification (LTQR)
    • Quality Release Certificate (QRC)
    • Inspection & Test Plan Specification (ITP)
  • Lead LTQR reviews—liaise with stakeholders to ensure documentation meets project requirements.
  • Ensure surveillance compliance—apply graded manufacturing oversight based on equipment safety function and criticality, monitoring inspection agencies (e.g., Direction Industrielle).
  • Coordinate inspection-related activities—verify witness points and hold plans in supplier documentation, monitoring progress.
  • Support HPC’s acceptance process—review and validate manufacturing documentation, including:
    • End of Manufacturing Reports (EoMR)
    • End of Construction Status Reports (ECSR)
    • End of Erection Status Reports (EESR)
  • Obtain quality release—ensure final equipment records meet approval for site deployment.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • HNC/HND or degree in a relevant science/engineering discipline (or equivalent)
  • Broad quality experience—ability to implement and improve quality-related solutions
  • Proven track record of results
  • Nuclear or safety-critical sector experience in Quality Assurance/Control (essential)
  • Conflict resolution & stakeholder management— experience interacting with diverse teams in multicultural settings
