Position Overview
Job Title & Pay
Quality Management Lead (Civils)
- Minimum £39,500 PAYE
- Or Up to £550 Umbrella Day Rate
Join an exciting & challenging project at Hinkley Point C (HPC)—the first new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK, producing low-carbon Civils for around six million homes.
The Quality Management Lead (Civils) ensures supply-chain adherence to contracted quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) requirements.
Key Responsibilities

- Technical Supplier Assessment
- Construction Surveillance
- Civil Works Surveillance Coordination
- Non-Conformance Management
- Quality Release Processes
Core Duties

Problem Solving & Process Improvement
- Resolve quality-related issues and develop solutions.

Quality Plan Development & Review
- Review, accept, and monitor contractors’ Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs)
- Develop Project Quality Control Plans (PQCPs) for each contract.

Supplier Audits & Corrective Actions
- Identify audit needs for the supply chain
- Engage auditors and ensure resolution of findings.

Regulatory & Contractual Compliance
- Deploy key quality arrangements including:
- General Quality Assurance Specification (GQAS)
- Lifetime Quality Records Specification (LTQRS)
- Quality Release Certificates (QRCs)
- Inspection & Test Plan Specifications (ITPs)
- Deploy key quality arrangements including:

Contractor Guidance
- Provide support on:
- QAPs
- LTQRS partitioning strategies
- Quality-related activity planning
- Provide support on:

ITP Review & Witnessing
- Check supplier ITPs for compliance and distribution
- Validate planned inspections and witness key milestones.

Documentation & Manufacturing Reviews
- Coordinate and optimize manufacturing documentation review and inspections
- Conduct joint inspections as required.

Non-Conformance Management
- Monitor and resolve non-conformances, implementing corrective actions.

- Support the review of:
- End-of-Manufacturing Reports (EoMRs)
- End-of-Construction Status Reports (ECSRs)
- End-of-Erection Status Reports (EESRs)
- Support the review of:

Requirements
Experience & Expertise
- Core Knowledge Cluster: Civils, nuclear power, quality management (QA/QC).
- Proven project delivery experience in nuclear power sector.
- Strong understanding of QA/QC frameworks across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
Qualifications & Affiliations
- Civil-related qualification or equivalent in engineering/science (Bachelors, Masters, or equivalent professional endorsement).
- Corporate Member/Associate of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) (or working toward membership).
Leadership & Technical Skills
- Proven leadership in QA/QC in nuclear or safety-critical environments.
- Hands-on experience implementing quality-related solutions and measuring results.
- Extensive experience addressing cross-stakeholder issues in multicultural settings.
- Familiarity with regulators (e.g., ONR – Office for Nuclear Regulation).
- Improvement Methodologies Knowledge (e.g., Lean Six Sigma).
