CS3 Quality Manager – Bristol Role

Salary Range: £70,000 - £80,000

The salary range shown reflects the approved grade band for this role, or a narrower hiring range published within that band, and is benchmarked against the external market. Exceptions above the standard range are managed through governance controls to protect internal equity.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Manager to join CS3 (Customer Support and Service Solutions) Line of Business team based in Bristol. If you are looking for a new and exciting role within Quality, this could be a great opportunity for you.

Role Overview

As Quality Manager, you'll deploy the Quality strategy in your assigned line of business and coordinate the activities required to meet the quality standards set for projects, products, and services. You'll work with the wider teams and functions to ensure that this quality is consistent and meets both external and internal requirements. You'll be a key player and driver to promote Quality throughout the organisation and strive for a culture of excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for the development and promotion of a Quality culture within the business and in line with the overall Quality Strategy.
  • Develop and establish quality-process links with customers, both internal and external in line with the Business Management system and oversee compliance and Governance embedding across the line of business.
  • Proactively work with all key stakeholders to support and facilitate problem-solving, continual improvement activities.
  • Develop, reinforce, and support the roll out of advanced quality techniques based on risk management and focusing on preventing problems from occurring in the first place.
  • As part of the role, you will continuously be encouraged to reflect together with the teams on how to further develop the role of quality within the organisation considering aspects such as customer value co-creation, digitalisation, new technologies, removal of non-value-added activities, and the ever so important sustainability.
  • Organise, lead, coach, and develop a team of Quality Engineers, with the aim to embed Quality and deliver, (on time) Quality outputs throughout the project/product Life Cycle, as well as to ensure the provision of Assurance expertise and capability to the various projects and programmes.
  • Ensure and support activities, such as (but not limited to) development of Project Assurance Plans (PAP), management of no-conformance (MRB, complaint management), root cause analysis, auditing, risk management, APQP activities, cost-of-non-quality, and cost-of-quality reduction programs.
  • Establish and maintain a set of performance KPIs to allow informed decision making.
  • Attend and contribute at Sector, Programme, and IPT meetings and represent the Quality Function at senior level in the sector.
  • Develop and deliver the internal audit plan for your Sector.
  • Deliver programme specific assessment plans which help the Programme Manager focus on and resolve Programme risk and realise opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • Recognised as an expert in quality, operations, operational framework, manufacturing, leadership principles, and good understanding of general business processes.
  • People management & leadership skills; including effective performance and change management skills (change agent).
  • A self-starter and motivated individual who can work on their own initiative but also effective as part of a wider team.
  • Degree educated or relevant work experience gained in an Operational, Engineering, or Quality field.
  • A good level of working knowledge in the application of AS9100/ISO9001 standards.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of in all phases of the product life cycle and the associated processes, experienced in design / maturity reviews representing quality at the highest level.
  • Expert in influencing and negotiating with others using facts, proposals, data, and analysis to support line of reasoning.
  • Communicate quality at a leadership level in a non-technical influencing way.
  • Evidence of leadership of capability and process development within quality engineering and ability to implement change.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners, both domestically and internationally.
  • Success in mentoring and coaching in order to grow Quality excellence within the business.
  • Experienced in reducing Cost of non-quality, and to drive process improvements and product quality.
  • Be an excellent communicator and collaborator in order to build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Successful and demonstrable track record of excellent organisation, time, and project management skills to deliver on time against competing priorities.
  • Be a critical thinker with sound judgement skills and can identify potential risks and communicate mitigating strategies effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the aerospace or defence industry.
  • CQI Membership.
  • Security Clearance.
