Quality Manager – HS2 Ltd
Base salary: £46,406 to c.£54,595 per annum, with negligible pay progression. Additional benefits:

About the Role
HS2 Ltd seeks a Quality Manager to provide leadership and support on quality assurance for our delivery teams and supply chain. This role ensures a right-first-time ethos to guarantee the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of HS2 projects.
As Quality Manager, you will:
- Monitor supply-chain compliance against contracted standards (WI 600, ISO 9001, etc.), confirming quality management systems are effective.
- Advise project delivery teams on quality-related issues, including key concerns, recommended actions, and lessons learned, via clear reporting.
- Conduct risk-based audits of the supply chain and coordinate heavy surveillance with other HS2 functions.
- Analyse non-conformances and defects, identify root causes, and implement preventative measures.
- Lead the Get It Right initiative to measure the cost of poor quality.
- Promote knowledge sharing across teams (best practices, High Potential Incidents (HiPo), and lessons learned).
- Monitor contractor deliverables using right-first-time acceptance rates, ensuring continuous improvements.
- Review, review, and approve supply-chain quality documentation (Quality Management Plans, Audit Schedules, etc.).
- Serve as the Quality SME, providing technical support and assimilating operational quality for project teams.
- Train project teams and suppliers on HS2’s quality requirements, processes, and metrics.
- Support supplier selection and quality management for new projects.
- Ensure compliance with HS2’s Integrated Management Systems (IMS) controls.
- Actively embed Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) into all roles and policies.

About You
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Qualification: Degree, HND, or HNC (preferably in engineering, construction-related subject, or quality assurance).
- Accreditation: IRCA-approved ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification required.
- Experience in audit, oversight, and assuring processes within 3 lines of defence frameworks.
- Strong writing & reporting skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Executive authority with negotiation skills, including influencing without formal responsibility.
- Mitigation skills for quality-related tender appeals & risk minimisation.
- Capability to set KPIs for project quality performance, track compliance, and analyse data.
Experience Requirements
- Measured quality performance against targets, improving business processes.
- Leadership in operational quality & risk management within high-volume environments.
- Operational audit implementation, trend analysis, and actionable reporting.
- Risk assessment of threats to compliance, developmental solutions.
- Data analytics on quality metrics (Non-Conformances, Defect Logs, trends), correcting systemic failures.

Compensation & Benefits
This is a safety-critical role, with salary depending on experience.
- Base salary range: £46,406 to £54,595 (no kincentives).
- 20% Flexible Benefits fund (pre-tax compensation), linked to enhanced HR offerings.
