What You Need To Know

Proserv is looking for an experienced Quality Manager / QHSE Manager to lead all aspects of Quality, Health, Safety and Environment at site level, with a strong emphasis on Quality leadership within a bespoke manufacturing environment.

This role is responsible for championing best practice, driving continual improvement and ensuring the effective delivery of Quality and HSE activities across the location. Working closely with local leadership, operational teams, customers and suppliers, you will play a central role in strengthening compliance, performance and culture across the business. The role will also involve engagement with, and at times responsibility for, Quality and HSE activities across other Proserv locations.

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with strong Quality management experience who also bring a solid understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental management systems, ideally within manufacturing, engineering or oil and gas related sectors.

What We Are Looking For

Some of the Key Accountabilities:

Leadership & QHSE Management

  • Lead the local QHSE function, managing Quality and HSE resources to ensure effective support to the business.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, best practice and accountability across Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental performance.
  • Manage workload, priorities and resources across the QHSE function to meet business needs.
  • Establish and manage the function budget.
  • Identify business risks and improvement opportunities and communicate these effectively to stakeholders.
  • Produce reports, performance updates and management information for the leadership team and customers.
  • Generate, review and approve Quality and HSE alerts.
  • Support and influence local and wider Proserv locations on QHSE-related activities where required.

Quality

  • Develop and implement the local Quality strategy, aligned to the wider global business strategy.
  • Lead, maintain and improve the Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 and any additional required standards.
  • Generate audit schedules and conduct internal and supplier audits, as well as support external audits from customers and accreditation bodies.
  • Manage non-conformances, ensuring robust root cause analysis is completed and effective corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.
  • Arrange, facilitate and provide data for management system reviews.
  • Lead process generation and review meetings and support process standardisation across the business.
  • Review, generate, approve and monitor Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and Quality Plans.
  • Generate NOI, PMI and welding packs as required.
  • Review material certification and test documentation.
  • Attend design reviews and project handover meetings to provide quality input, share lessons learned and support effective project execution.
  • Carry out and oversee inspections including dimensional, paint, welding, surface finish, PMI, visual and final inspection activities.
  • Measure and report on cost of poor quality and right first time performance, using data to drive improvement.
  • Deliver quality-related training and coaching across the business.
  • Review new and existing suppliers with regard to Quality and HSE performance and define minimum supplier performance expectations.

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Establish local Health & Safety and Environmental strategies aligned to the wider business strategy.
  • Lead, maintain and improve management systems in line with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001, as well as any future required standards.
  • Provide guidance on QHSE process development and drive standardisation across the site.
  • Lead and support incident investigations, ensuring timely close-out of actions and lessons learned.
  • Maintain systems for legal compliance, ensuring legislative requirements are regularly reviewed and communicated.
  • Support the delivery of health, safety and environmental training frameworks to ensure the business remains competent and compliant.
  • Produce monthly and annual HSE and environmental reports, including trend analysis, performance updates and improvement initiatives.
  • Collect and report environmental data against objectives and legislative requirements.
  • Work with the management team to build a proactive, employee-led safety culture and a strong environmental awareness culture across the site.

Essential

Qualifications / Skills & Experience

  • HND/HNC in a relevant subject area.
  • Quality Lead Auditor trained.
  • NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent.
  • Significant demonstrable experience in a similar Quality / QHSE leadership role.
  • Proven people management and team development experience.
  • Experience working with global customers and suppliers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong IT skills, including MS Office, Power BI and ERP systems.

Preferred

  • Management, supervisory or leadership training.
  • Lean Six Sigma qualification or practical continuous improvement experience.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
  • Significant experience within a bespoke manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of subsea control equipment.
  • Knowledge of API Q1 requirements for oilfield equipment manufacturers.
