Location: Mansfield, OH Cleveland-Cliffs is seeking a Quality Specialist to support the daily quality assurance activities for stainless steel hot band production on site at our Mansfield, Ohio facility. This role is responsible for performing product disposition decisions under established guidelines, reviewing process and inspection data, and ensuring compliance with customer order requirements. In addition, this position provides support to the LMF Chemistry Lab by assisting with routine maintenance, calibration checks, and supply management. As a result of this role, the Quality Specialist will develop technical knowledge of product quality, manufacturing processes, and laboratory operations in a steelmaking environment. Summary of Responsibilities: Follow all plant and department safety procedures, including proper Personal Protection Equipment use Adhere to established quality systems, procedures, and documentation requirements Apply standard quality criteria to determine product acceptability and perform daily disposition of stainless steel hot bands using defined procedures, specifications, and quality standards and document accordingly Review process holds and assist in determining appropriate disposition actions Analyze automated surface inspection system maps to identify potential defects and escalate concerns to appropriate personnel Assist the Lab Supervisor with routine lab operations and daily tasks including timely and accurate reporting of results in accordance with procedures Help maintain lab equipment, including basic upkeep and organization, monitor inventory and assist with ordering lab supplies Support audit readiness through accurate recordkeeping Participation in lab on call rotation including after-hours support as needed Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Associate of Science degree or equivalent manufacturing experience in Metallurgy, Materials, and Engineering Technology Basic computer skills and ability to learn data systems Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn Willingness to learn and apply technical knowledge Basic analytical and problem-solving skills Communication and teamwork Ability to follow procedures and work within defined guidelines Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering field Experience in manufacturing, metallurgy, or quality processes Familiarity with inspection systems or production laboratory environments Basic understanding of steel processing or quality concepts Relocation assistance is not provided for this position.
