Quality Systems Engineer – Purchasing & Supply Chain
Location: Hurn Hours: Full-time (37 hours), Permanent

About The Role
We are seeking a Quality Systems Engineer to support and enhance the quality processes within our Purchasing and Supply Chain functions. This integral role involves maintaining robust quality systems, managing supplier quality activities, and driving continuous improvement across internal procedures and supplier performance.
Responsibilities span both internal and supplier-facing duties, including:
- Supporting quality systems, governance, internal audits, and NCR (Non-Conformance Report) management
- Collaborating with suppliers on performance monitoring, quality investigations, approvals, and site/board visits
- Ensuring alignment of purchasing and supply chain quality processes with company, customer, and regulatory requirements
You will act as a bridge between internal stakeholders and suppliers, identifying quality trends, leading root cause analysis, monitoring supplier performance, and implementing corrective actions to maintain safe, compliant, and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Systems & Process Management
- Maintain and improve the Approved Supplier Management Procedure and associated documentation
- Ensure procedures align with ISO 9001, organisational, customer, and regulatory standards
- Support Purchasing and Supply Chain departments with documentation updates, audits, surveillance, and investigations

Supplier Performance & Compliance
- Lead Supplier Performance Review Board meetings
- Develop, review, and maintain quality procedures, performance metrics, and KPI reports
- Present quality performance trends at quarterly reviews for decision-making and improvement initiatives
Issue Resolution & Corrective Actions
- Handle supplier quality issues and failure reports, ensuring timely investigations and resolution
- Support Occurrence Review Meetings and NCR closure activities
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activities
Supplier Relations & Development
- Support supplier approval activities, checking certifications, capability, and compliance
- Maintain a risk-based supplier audit programme
- Conduct regular supplier reviews, audits, and on-site visits
- Provide technical support to suppliers on quality-related issues
Data-Driven Improvement
- Analyse performance metrics, trends, and root causes
- Collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives across procurement workflows
Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
- Deep knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standards and applications
- 3+ years of experience in a Quality Engineering, Quality Systems, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, or QA role within:
- Civil/military aviation sector, or
- Regulated environment (equivalency to aerospace compliance)
- Problem-solving skills, with expertise in root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies
- Ability to produce quality reporting, including metrics, KPIs, and trend analysis
- Proficient communicator (verbal and written), with strong attention to detail
- Organised, proactive, and self-sufficient, able to work with minimal supervision
- Strong MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) competency
- Formal qualification in Quality Assurance or Engineering (degree/diploma)

Desirable Qualifications
- Certified ISO 9001:2015/AS9100D lead auditor designation
- Knowledge of UK Part 145 Continuing Airworthiness and UK Part 21 (Airworthiness Certification) regulations
