Role Overview

The Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring that incoming materials, components, and in-process parts conform to specified requirements. The role includes dimensional inspection using CMM equipment, first article inspection, and goods-in inspection to maintain product quality and compliance with internal and customer standards.

Responsibilities

Incoming Inspection

  • Perform incoming inspection of raw materials, machined components, and purchased parts against drawings, specifications, and purchase order requirements.
  • Verify certificates (CoC, material certificates, Inspection records).
  • Record inspection results and release or quarantine parts accordingly.
  • Raise and manage non-conformance reports (NCRs).
  • Communicate quality issues with internal stakeholders.

CMM Inspection

  • Conduct dimensional inspection using CMM equipment.
  • Run and support modification of CMM programs.
  • Perform first article inspection (FAI) and production inspections.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and CAD models.
  • Report inspection results clearly and accurately

General Quality

  • Use manual inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.).
  • Ensure inspection equipment is calibrated and suitable for use.
  • Maintain complete and accurate quality records, i.e. Calibration Log.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Assist with audits and continuous improvement activities.

Essential skills

  • Experience in a Quality Technician or inspection role within manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of CMM inspection processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Experience with incoming goods inspection.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 or similar quality system.

Desired skills

  • Engineering, Manufacturing or Quality qualification (NVQ, HNC/HND or equivalent).
  • CMM training or certification (preferred).
