Quality Technician
SST (Part of DwyerOmega) | Coatbridge, Scotland

SST, part of DwyerOmega, a global leader in industrial instrumentation, sensors, and controls, is looking for a Quality Technician to join our team in Coatbridge.
This is an excellent opportunity for a quality-focused professional who enjoys problem-solving, working closely with manufacturing teams, and driving product excellence in a fast-paced engineering environment.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Quality Technician, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving product quality across our manufacturing operations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing incoming, in-process, and final product inspections
- Conducting dimensional, visual, and functional testing using a variety of measuring equipment
- Maintaining quality records, inspection reports, and non-conformance documentation
- Supporting investigations into product defects, manufacturing issues, and customer complaints
- Assisting with root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
- Raising and managing non-conformance reports (NCRs)
- Supporting internal audits and external customer/certification audits
- Managing calibration records and ensuring testing equipment remains compliant
- Analysing quality data and identifying trends to support continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborating closely with Production, Engineering, Purchasing, and Supply Chain teams
- Promoting a culture of quality, compliance, and operational excellence

What We're Looking For
Essential
- Experience within a quality, manufacturing, or engineering environment
- Understanding of Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9001
- Experience using inspection and measurement equipment including:
- Calipers
- Micrometers
- Gauges
- Multimeters
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills
- Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
- Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Knowledge of quality tools such as:
- 5 Whys
- Fishbone Diagrams
- FMEA
- Experience with ERP or Quality Management Systems
- Internal Auditor qualification
- Experience within medical device, aerospace, automotive, or other regulated manufacturing environments

Qualifications
Essential
- HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3, Apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline
Desirable
- CQI qualification
- Six Sigma Yellow Belt or Green Belt
- Other recognised quality certifications
