Data Scientist – Pricing & Underwriting | Prima

We’re looking for Data Scientists to join our Pricing & Underwriting Department, the strategic backbone driving Prima’s growth.

Join a global team and play a critical role in shaping our data-driven strategy. Using advanced analytics, machine learning, and business acumen, you’ll help predict trends, set optimised pricing, and ensure our insurance remains innovative, competitive, and sustainable.

Responsibilities

  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Leverage data, statistics, and predictive analytics to identify key risk assessments, pricing drivers, and market opportunities—turning insight into impactful business decisions.
  • Machine Learning & Risk Models: Design and implement ML algorithms to build advanced risk models, ensuring precision in dynamic pricing for millions of customers in real time.
  • Innovation & Growth: Drive cutting-edge experiments, modelling techniques, and commercial outcomes that scale across our global operations (UK, Italy, Spain).

Requirements

Essential

  • Academic Excellence: Degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering (with specialisation in Maths/Physics/Computer Science), Data Science, Computer Science, or Statistics.
  • Quantitative Skills: Strong problem-solving, statistical reasoning, and probability background—with proven ability to analyse complex datasets and translate them into actionable strategies.
  • Professional Proficiency: Fluent in written and spoken English for cross-team collaboration.

Nice-to-Have

  • Technical Edge: Experience in Python, machine learning frameworks, or large-scale data manipulation (illustrating competencies through your work).
  • Business Acumen: Ability to challenge assumptions, propose fresh ideas, and communicate insights clearly—bridging the gap between data and strategy.
