The Role: Quantitative Analyst

We seek a Quantitative Analyst to join L&G Asset Management, focusing on developing and maintaining data-driven systems and models for derivative pricing, risk management, and portfolio optimisation across our Solution mandates.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Portfolio Management team to create robust, accessible analytical tools for all Solution Portfolio Management activities.
  • Model risks associated with fixed income and other asset classes to refine strategies that align pension schemes with liabilities.
  • Lead development of pricing, risk assessment, and portfolio construction tools for derivatives and their strategies, including:
    • Writing or refining databases, UI systems using SQL, VBA, C#, Python.
    • Aligning with industry-standard conventions.
  • Act as a technical representative during IT and business process projects, ensuring seamless integration of improved data, analytics, risk engines, and portfolio management capabilities.
  • Work with collateral management, derivative pricing and operational teams to optimise process efficiency.
  • Ensure accurate pricing and analyses of key instruments (e.g., gilts, swaps, options, futures, collateralised products) in line with market standards and compliance.
  • Monitor adherence to L&G Asset Management’s ‘Treating Customers Fairly’ policy.

Who We’re Looking For

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong academic/professional background in quantitative disciplines (academic or professional).
    • A masters or PhD in quant-related fields is desirable but not strictly required.
  • Deep technical knowledge of risk management in derivatives, including:
    • Government bonds (gilts), credit, interest-rate & inflation swaps, repo operations, gilt total return swaps, swaptions, equity options/futures, TRS (Total Return Swaps), and FX forwards.
    • Familiarity with pensions and de-risking strategies.
  • High proficiency in IT and programming, please show familiarity with big language models when applicable.
  • Understanding of risk management strategy frameworks and cutting-edge reinforcement learning.

Key Competencies

  • Ability to design, implement, and maintain scalable risk models for derivatives.
  • Adept at interacting independently with** Portfolio Managers** and stakeholders, proactively suggesting process improvements.
