If you’re looking to take an exciting new direction with your HSBC career, an internal move can open the door to many opportunities, allowing you to take on a new challenge, and develop your skills. Bring your knowledge of our brand to a new role and grow yourself further.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Quantitative Business Analyst.

Raven is the bank’s internal XVA and CCR analytics library – the computational backbone used to price, measure, and manage counterparty credit risk and valuation adjustments across the trading book. The quant team that builds Raven is adopting the product operating model, meaning the team is empowered to solve hard problems for its internal clients.

The goal of the Quantitative Business Analyst (QBA) is to support the Quantitative Analysts in understanding the system landscape, the upstream data sources and the business processes that interact with the analytics generated by Raven.

A move across the business allows you to continue to access tailored professional development opportunities, and our fantastic benefits packages.

In this role you will:

  • Partner with Product Owners and stakeholders to elicit and clarify requirements, ensuring user pain points and desired outcomes are understood and captured as well-formed user stories in the bank’s digital requirements tools (e.g., JIRA)
  • Produce clear, complete and testable requirements by documenting processes, workflows, data needs and business rules, and keeping stories aligned to business objectives
  • Define unambiguous acceptance criteria and UAT scenarios, so solutions can be validated consistently and without interpretation gaps
  • Support agile ceremonies (planning, daily stand-ups, reviews and retrospectives), helping the team maintain momentum, remove ambiguity and keep delivery aligned to intent
  • Refine and maintain the product backlog with the Product Owner and pod team, breaking down complex needs into small, manageable items and preventing the backlog becoming stale
  • Ensure stories meet “Definition of Ready” before entering a sprint, including clarity, sizing, dependencies, risks/assumptions, and any non-functional requirements (e.g., security, performance)
  • Coordinate and support user testing, capturing feedback, triaging issues/enhancements, and iterating requirements to improve the solution and measurable value delivered.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
