Quantitative Developer

Quant Developer | Global Commodities Trading | London | £200k–£300k + Bonus

RJC is currently partnering with a leading global hedge fund looking to hire a Quant Developer to join a Front Office Commodities Technology team in London. Working directly with traders, analysts, and quantitative researchers on one of the firm’s highest-performing trading desks, they are seeking an engineer to help build the analytics, research tooling, and trading infrastructure that drives commercial performance.

The role requires an experienced engineer with:

  • A strong technical background
  • A proven track record of delivering complex systems
  • The ability to work directly with front-office stakeholders

The Quant Developer will:

  • Take ownership of business-critical technology
  • Partner closely with traders and researchers
  • Play a key role in shaping the engineering strategy of the desk

Core Responsibilities

  • Build analytics platforms and internal research tooling for front-office users
  • Turn analyst and trader ideas into production-ready models and applications
  • Design and own data ingestion pipelines supporting trading workflows
  • Develop lightweight visualisation and internal tooling to enhance decision making
  • Partner directly with traders, analysts, quants, and engineers to deliver business-critical technology
  • Drive technical improvements and contribute to the long-term engineering strategy of the desk

Core Requirements

  • 6+ years’ commercial Python software engineering or quantitative development experience
  • Strong experience designing, owning, and delivering complex production systems
  • Experience working directly with business users to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ownership, independence, and end-to-end delivery experience
  • Previous experience in a front-office trading environment is preferred
  • Experience within commodities or wider financial markets is advantageous
  • A strong academic background and a genuine interest in financial markets
