Quantitative Researcher

Cricket Quantitative Researcher | Sports Betting Hedge Fund | London or Leeds

Technical Skills: Python • TensorFlow • Statistics • Sports Modelling

We’re partnering with a cutting-edge sports betting hedge fund based in London or Leeds, developing some of the most sophisticated predictive models in the industry. If you have a passion for statistics, machine learning, and cricket analytics, this is the opportunity to contribute to high-impact research that directly drives trading performance.


About the Role

  • Build and refine probabilistic models to predict sports outcomes (“cricket” expertise is highly desirable).
  • Extract actionable insights from large-scale sports and market datasets.
  • Research, test, and deploy innovative modelling approaches.
  • Collaborate with elite quants, researchers, and traders to solve complex real-world problems.
  • Work in a data-driven culture that values experimentation and continuous improvement.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine probabilistic models for sports predictions.
  • Extract deep insights from vast sports and market datasets.
  • Research, experiment with, and deploy powerful modelling techniques.
  • Work alongside a team of top-tier quants, researchers, and traders on real-world challenges.
  • Drive impact by improving trading strategies through your research.

Requirements

Experience & Background

  • 2+ years of experience in the sports betting industry (preferable).
  • Strong academic background in:
    • Statistics
    • Mathematics
    • Related quantitative fields.
  • Experience in electronic trading environments desirable.
  • Advanced Python skills (NumPy, Pandas, TensorFlow demanded).

Academic & Technical Proficiency

  • Excellent academic track record (top grades throughout education).
  • Demonstrable hands-on modelling/research experience (e.g., Kaggle competitions).
  • Proficiency in at least some of these exposure areas (see below) is a plus.
