I'm working with a leading global hedge fund that is looking to hire a Quantitative Strategist to join its Front Office Quantitative Development & Strategy team.

This is a high-impact role sitting directly alongside Portfolio Managers and investment teams, focused on building the quantitative tools and technology that underpin trading, alpha generation and risk management across a multi-asset investment platform.

The team is responsible for developing real-time P&L and risk systems, implementing systematic trading signals, building portfolio management tools and leveraging AI to enhance research and investment decision making. The role offers broad exposure across quantitative research, software engineering and front-office technology within one of the industry's most sophisticated investment environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop real-time P&L and risk systems supporting front-office trading and portfolio management.
  • Build interactive analytics and decision-support tools used directly by Portfolio Managers and investment teams.
  • Partner with Portfolio Managers to implement quantitative trading signals across multiple asset classes.
  • Develop research tooling, backtesting frameworks and quantitative models to support alpha generation and investment decision making.
  • Apply AI and quantitative techniques to improve research workflows, portfolio analytics and risk management.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to translate complex investment problems into scalable technical solutions.
  • Contribute to the firm's broader quantitative technology platform through high-quality software engineering and collaborative development.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
