Quantitative Trader & RV Analyst (Rates & FX)

Quantitative Trader & RV Analyst (Rates & FX)

Location: London (on-site)

About the Mandate

We are partnering with a premier multi-strategy fund to place a key quantitative execution and trading analytics resource, supporting two Fixed Income RV Portfolio Managers.

This role is strictly a relative-value seat—not a macro pod or discretionary PM track. You will not anchor a desk or run a discretionary book on day one, but instead provide technical leverage and execution bandwidth as the desk scales and builds its internal infrastructure. Early focus will be on execution, implementation, and tooling.

The Hard Questions (What You Will Solve)

  • Pricing & Curve Monitors: How do you build practical, reliable curve construction and pricing tools for cross-currency basis, OIS, and asset swaps across G10 markets?
  • Execution Pragmatism: How do you manage the daily execution of fleeting RV dislocations, automate spread capture, and efficiently handle carry/roll calendars with minimal drag?
  • Shared Infrastructure: How do you build pragmatic risk dashboards, blotters, and data pipelines that serve two distinct but adjacent RV books without creating technical debt?

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The Structural Edge

  • Technical Rigor > Pedigree: Hiring prioritises foundational engineering expertise over market intuition. Bank strats, flow traders, and eTrading execution specialists are preferred over traditional buy-side risk-takers.
  • Earned Evolution: The initial mandate is execution and tooling-heavy, with deeper investment and risk-taking integration earned through delivery and infrastructure impact—not guaranteed on day one.

Ideal Profile

Core Criteria

  • Metric: 5–8 years of experience
  • Tech: Strong Python proficiency with:
    • Deep practical understanding of time-series analysis
    • Yield curve mechanics
    • Swap pricing and execution plumbing
  • Mindset: A pragmatic builder, not aiming to be a macro PM; Instead, a technical specialist who thrives in designing the core operating trading system for a high-performing desk.
