Quantitative/Actuarial Analyst- £800/day

Quant/Actuarial Analyst — Front Office (Contract)

Rate: Front-of-book contract starting at up to £800/day

I’m seeking a hands-on Quant/Actuarial Analyst for a 4-month contract (with potential extension) to partner directly with a Portfolio Manager. The role focuses on developing spreadsheet-based applications and tools, working with Python in Aladdin.


Key Responsibilities & Technical Requirements

  • Spreadsheet development and automation for the trading desk.
  • Advanced analytics and modelling using Python in Aladdin.
  • Fixed income expertise with a focus on structured products, including modelling their cashflows and challenging assumptions on prepayment, default, recovery, and call behaviour.
  • Asset cashflow projection for actuarial teams and external reporting (including the Externally Projected Assets (EPA) feed).
  • Understanding of Asset & Liability Management (ALM) in life/reinsurance.
  • Excel expertise: Complex modelling, VBA Macro development, automation of financial processes.

Experience & Skills

Required

  • 5–10 years’ experience, preferably in insurance asset management or with an actuarial background.
  • Strong structured products knowledge and fixed income modelling skills.
  • Practical experience with Externally Projected Assets (EPAs) and reserving models.
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel and VBA, with a strong analytical focus.
  • Should possess adding machine arithmetic speed and academic rigour.

  • Previous experience with BondEdge.
  • Familiarity with UK Solvency II BMA (re)insurance regulations, particularly:
    • Equity-Based Solvency (EBS) framework.
