Quantity Surveyor

Quantity Surveyor – Construction & Fit-Out Specialist

Our client, a well-established construction and fit-out specialist, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

Operating across the UK, the company delivers a diverse portfolio of:

  • Fit-out
  • Refurbishment
  • Facilities management
  • Commercial furniture
  • Minor works (up to £5 million in project value)

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for commercial project management, from pre-construction to final account, ensuring:

  • Cost control
  • Strong client, subcontractor, and project team relationships

Key Responsibilities

  • Site surveys: Attend and assist in preparing cost estimates and project budgets
  • Subcontractor procurement: Source suppliers and prepare contractual documentation
  • Payment certification: Assess and certify subcontractor interim applications for payment
  • Financial reporting: Prepare interim valuations and final account submissions
  • Variation management: Manage and value project variations
  • Claims & loss submissions: Assist in preparing Extension of Time (EOT) claims and Loss & Expense reports
  • Risk management: Identify and manage commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle
  • Monthly financial oversight: Produce accurate Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports and forecasts
  • Stakeholder relations: Develop and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally
  • Team collaboration: Support commercial-operational alignment for successful project delivery

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualification: Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
  • Experience: Proven track record as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction sector
  • Contract expertise: Strong knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract
  • Commercially astute: Excellent cost management and commercial awareness
  • Independent pricing: Experience preparing take-offs and pricing variations
  • Soft skills:
    • Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
    • Exceptional organisational and time management
    • Numerical, analytical, and IT proficiency
    • Proactive, ownership-driven mindset
  • Flexibility: Willingness to travel to project sites as required
