Job Description

Working as part of the commercial team and reporting to a Commercial Manager, working on a housing project, the duties would include assisting with the following:

  • Client valuations including thorough measurement as work progresses, through to final account
  • Cash flow forecasts and monitoring against programme
  • Accurate valuation, forecasting and monitoring of site Preliminaries
  • Ensure full recovery and valuation of variations/instructions
  • Provision of timely and accurate documentation, warranties and the like, both internally and externally
  • Ensuring that the procurement of subcontractors is undertaken in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Administration of subcontractor contracts and accounts
  • Ensuring that payments/notices are issued in accordance with the Subcontract and Construction Act
  • Timely production of subcontract final accounts, including re-measurement and valuation of all variations as necessary to facilitate the optimum result
  • Keep the Commercial Manager informed of the progress of both client and subcontractor accounts through to their finalisation, including the release of retentions
  • Compile monthly Cost/Value reconciliations and forecasts, including future risks and opportunities, and present to the senior management team
  • Ensure any commercial threats to projects are identified swiftly and communicated to the Commercial Manager and all contractual notices are issued correctly and on time
  • Attend meetings and ensure that surveying information and cost advice is provided in an accurate, timely and proficient manner

Requirements

  • Surveying Degree or an equivalent qualification/experience
  • Experience of working for a Main Contractor
  • Design and build experience, ideally with JCT contracts.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experienced in commercially managing large scale projects
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
