Job Summary

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. You will be required to manage a portfolio of sites, which will include the monitoring and processing of variation orders, weekly booking in from supply chain and submitting applications for payment to the client. Additional responsibilities include managing the tender process, including liaising with clients, drawing take offs and submission of indicative quotations. This role requires a high level of precision and expertise in cost management, negotiation, and risk assessment to maximise project profitability and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cost Management: Prepare cost plans to control construction costs, and provide detailed cost analysis and forecasting.
  • Contract Administration: Manage and administer construction contracts, ensuring all parties fulfil their contractual obligations.
  • Value Engineering: Work collaboratively with project teams to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising on safety or quality.
  • Risk Management: Identify, analyse, and mitigate financial risks associated with construction projects.
  • Procurement: Oversee the tendering process, carry out take offs and liaise with client commercial teams to ensure everything is included in the project scope.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare regular reports on project costs, variances, and potential financial risks to senior management.
  • Claim Management: Manage and negotiate claims from contractors and suppliers, ensuring fair and equitable outcomes.
  • Compliance: Ensure all construction activities comply with legal, regulatory, and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS) is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and market conditions.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in QS software and MS Office.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and transparency in all business dealings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
