Quantity Surveyor – EMEA Consultancy (Transport & Infrastructure)

About the Opportunity
We are seeking an ambitious Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding team in London, contributing to our strategic growth. In this dynamic role, you’ll support one of our primary Construction clients, driving procurement and commercial strategies across diverse projects while delivering tangible value to our business.
Key Responsibilities
Contract & Commercial Administration
- Certify and expedite contractor payments in line with project requirements
- Support Project Managers with NEC contract administration, including:
- Responding to compensation event notifications
- Agreeing compensation events
- Managing Unifier (our contract administration system)
- Compile and present monthly commercial WOT dashboards, assessing project performance
- Prepare accruals, cost reporting, and requisite documentation ahead of P6 closure deadlines
- Address internal and external contract/commercial queries proactively, including claim resolutions
Operational & Strategic Support
- Ensure project teams adhere to contractual obligations, maintaining compliance at all stages
- Facilitate frictionless project progression through collaboration with external partners and Soben stakeholders
- Assist in preparing activity schedules and tender documentation, conducting analyses of tender proposals
- Coordinate with Portfolio Managers, Programme Managers, Senior Project Managers, and P6 Planners to align projects with contractual guidelines and reporting deadlines
Workload & Team Leadership
- Prioritise and manage a portfolio of active contracts, alongside relevant resource allocation
- Offer mentorship as a supportive resource for Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers
- Champion quality risk assessment through updates to risk registers, incorporating new emerging concerns
- Advocate transparently for BIAS AML purposes when dealing with challenging business decisions

Reporting & Analysis
- Produce data-driven reports, questioning directives or decision-making wwhen necessary
- Evaluate contractor applications, EWNs, and CE’s, proposing recommendations and preparing correspondence were appropriate
- Collaborate with Project Managers to identify and address gaps in project reliability and financial validity
Requirements & Desirables
Essential Criteria
- Quantity Surveying experience, with a proven track record in managing complex, high-value, and diverse contracts
- Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, oder a related commerce or business discipline
- (Non-degree qualifxied candidates will be considered via evidence of substantial experience in similar roles)
- Strong technical proficiency, including proficiency with:
- Microsoft Office (Excel to advanced level, Word, and PowerPoint)
- SAP systems
- Commitment to professional development in quantity surveying, such as membership pathways with:
- RICS
- CIOB
- ICES
- or other relevant chartered institutions
Desirable Skills
- Pragmatic decision-making: analyse data to inform decisions and report findings to clients or partners
- Strong relationship management skills, fostering trust with both service providers and senior stakeholders
- Knowledge of tender analysis frameworks and ability to derive comparable comparative reports
- Familiarity with a range of contract meanings, evolve a tender quick, is an insight into facts of construction
- IOSH Certificate (Health & Safety) – onboarding support offered for those lacking formal certifications.
