Quantity Surveyor
About the Role
Our client is a well-established specialist subcontractor operating across London and the South East, delivering complex cut & carve, demolition, structural alteration, and temporary works packages.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Quantity Surveyor (QS) to develop within a specialist contractor delivering technically challenging and high-profile projects across Central London.
The Position: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Hertfordshire – London Projects sector Industry: Building and Construction Salary: £50,000 – £70,000 per annum + Package
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Management
- Assist with the commercial management of live projects
- Prepare and submit valuations and applications for payment
- Manage variations and change control processes
- Support cost reporting, forecasting, and CVR reporting
- Assist with final account negotiations and close-out

Procurement & Commercial Support
- Assist with subcontractor and supplier procurement
- Obtain and analyse quotations from subcontractors and suppliers
- Support procurement and package management activities
- Assist with commercial administration and contract management
Client & Stakeholder Liaison
- Liaise with clients, consultants, site teams, and subcontractors
- Support commercial meetings and project reporting
- Assist in identifying commercial risks and opportunities across projects

Requirements
Essential:
- Experience working as an Assistant or Intermediate Quantity Surveyor
- Previous experience within a subcontractor or specialist contractor environment
- Exposure to demolition, structural alterations, temporary works, or cut & carve projects (advantageous)
- Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and organisational ability
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and standard QS processes
Desirable:
- Knowledge of JCT contracts
- Relevant construction or Quantity Surveying qualification
