Quantity Surveyor

About the Role

Our client is a well-established specialist subcontractor operating across London and the South East, delivering complex cut & carve, demolition, structural alteration, and temporary works packages.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Quantity Surveyor (QS) to develop within a specialist contractor delivering technically challenging and high-profile projects across Central London.


The Position: Quantity Surveyor

Location: Hertfordshire – London Projects sector Industry: Building and Construction Salary: £50,000 – £70,000 per annum + Package

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Management

  • Assist with the commercial management of live projects
  • Prepare and submit valuations and applications for payment
  • Manage variations and change control processes
  • Support cost reporting, forecasting, and CVR reporting
  • Assist with final account negotiations and close-out

Procurement & Commercial Support

  • Assist with subcontractor and supplier procurement
  • Obtain and analyse quotations from subcontractors and suppliers
  • Support procurement and package management activities
  • Assist with commercial administration and contract management

Client & Stakeholder Liaison

  • Liaise with clients, consultants, site teams, and subcontractors
  • Support commercial meetings and project reporting
  • Assist in identifying commercial risks and opportunities across projects

Requirements

Essential:

  • Experience working as an Assistant or Intermediate Quantity Surveyor
  • Previous experience within a subcontractor or specialist contractor environment
  • Exposure to demolition, structural alterations, temporary works, or cut & carve projects (advantageous)
  • Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational ability
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and standard QS processes

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of JCT contracts
  • Relevant construction or Quantity Surveying qualification
