About The Role

At Balfour Beatty Power T&D, we're growing our Commercial team in Scotland and are looking for multiple Quantity Surveyors to join us on the BBNP (Beauly, Blackhillock, New Deer and Peterhead) 400kV Overhead Line Project.

Whether you're an experienced Quantity Surveyor, working towards chartership, or looking to bring your commercial expertise from another sector, we'd love to hear from you.

You can be based from Glasgow, Inverness or Elgin, with flexible travel arrangements to site and hybrid working options available.

Full-time and part-time applications are welcome. We're building our team and are open to different levels of experience, backgrounds and working patterns.

We're not looking for people who have done it all before. In fact, you do not need Power Transmission & Distribution experience or NEC contract experience to be successful in this role. We welcome applications from a range of sectors including construction, infrastructure, utilities, rail, highways, defence, energy and manufacturing.

What you'll be doing

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing costs and commercial activities across our projects, helping us deliver outstanding outcomes for our customers while maximising value and maintaining quality.

You'll support the Senior Quantity Surveyor and wider commercial team while taking ownership of a range of commercial responsibilities, including procurement, subcontract management, cost control and reporting.

Commercial Management

  • Managing costs and income within your area of responsibility
  • Producing cost reconciliations and commercial reports
  • Measuring, recording and valuing work in line with company procedures
  • Building estimates from first principles
  • Interpreting drawings, specifications and works information
  • Supporting customer and stakeholder management activities
  • Understanding and monitoring project programmes and commercial performance

Procurement & Supply Chain

  • Supporting procurement activities and subcontract enquiries
  • Preparing and reviewing tender documentation
  • Managing subcontractor relationships and agreements
  • Supporting supply chain performance and value delivery

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
