Quantity Surveyor

Quantity Surveyor – Commercial Support for European Electrical Construction Projects

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support major electrical construction projects across Europe. Working closely with Contract Managers, you will ensure projects are delivered while adhering to time, budget, and client requirements. This role demands:

  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to drive cost control and risk mitigation throughout the project lifecycle

The role is primarily office-based, with occasional travel to project sites across the UK and Europe.

We are a leading specialist electrical contractor, providing:

  • Medium-voltage and low-voltage cable installation
  • Terminations, busbar, and containment solutions

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with estimating teams during tendering to refine project scope and commercial strategy
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive commercial project documentation throughout the project lifecycle
  • Produce accurate weekly cost reports and performance forecasts
  • Manage and submit variations and change orders as project scope evolves
  • Prepare monthly valuations and follow-up to ensure timely certification and payment
  • Develop cash flow forecasts and continuously monitor project financial performance
  • Identify commercial risks early and implement mitigation measures
  • Prepare and issue Early Warning Notices as required
  • Ensure contract compliance and facilitate communication between clients and stakeholders
  • Maintain awareness of contract conditions, commercial best practices, and relevant legislation
  • Support final account preparation and project close-out activities

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial experience within the construction industry, preferably in electrical projects

Key Skills

  • Proven expertise in cost control, valuations, and change management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage effectively with clients and project teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
  • Highly organised, self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

Language & Compliance

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Ability to travel freely within the UK and Europe
  • Knowledge of contract law and construction procurement processes
