Senior Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering & Infrastructure Projects
Referment are partnering with a leading construction business to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor for their expanding commercial team. The role involves delivering large-scale civil engineering and infrastructure projects across key UK regions:
- South East: Ipswich, Didcot
- North West: Manchester
- South West: Plymouth
- West Midlands
- North East
This is a site-based position (5 days/week), offering the chance to take full commercial ownership of high-value projects—from procurement through to final accounts.
Key Responsibilities
You will lead the end-to-end commercial lifecycle, including:
- Developing and executing procurement strategies and cost planning
- Overseeing Contract Value Realisation (CVR) and financial reporting
- Managing subcontractor procurement, payments, and risk ownership
- Identifying and handling commercial variations and complex project risks
- Supporting project teams with detailed forecasting and cost control
- Liaising with clients, stakeholders, and senior internal teams
- Mentoring and line-managing junior commercial staff
- Producing final accounts with total financial accuracy for large schemes

Who We’re Looking For
Core Qualifications
- Proven Senior Quantity Surveyor-level experience within the UK construction sector
- Robust background with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 UK Main Contractor (essential for industry alignment)
- Extensive large-scale civil engineering, infrastructure, or complex engineering projects experience (not maintenance, fit-out, or small-scale works)
- Demonstrated end-to-end commercial ownership, including cost planning and risk management
- Strong Mercury Lifecycle record and career stability in construction
- Experience in line management/mentoring (highly valued)
Qualifications

- HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent experience)
- MRICS (Chartered Surveyor) membership (or working towards)
- BTEC/HNC/HND in Building Studies, Engineering, or Management

- Excellent senior stakeholder communication and influence
- Willingness to commute to site locations within designated areas
