Quantity Surveyor
Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire, Derbyshire, LE65.
Quantity Surveyor to work within a growing, well established engineering business to deliver complex rail infrastructure projects across the UK.
A great opportunity for a commercially minded QS who wants to take ownership of projects, work closely with senior stakeholders, and develop in a technically strong environment.
You could have experience in a construction, civil engineering, rail infrastructure or any other engineering contracts type of background. This is a newly created role within the business, so some level of experience will be required. There is also plenty of freedom and opportunity to shape this role yourself, you will be able to implement your own ideas and have a real influence on the business, with the possibility to grow the function longer term.
Plenty of long term scope to grow within the business, they have an excellent reputation in the rail industry and are projecting continued success in the longer term.
Starting salary to be confirmed (We suspect £55,000 - £60,000 sort of region) with plenty of other benefits - flexible working hours, bonus, pension, 25 days holiday plus all bank holidays, early finish on a Friday and more!

Role will be based on site in Ashby with the occasional need to travel to customer sites, you will require a full UK driving license.
Your background as a Quantity Surveyor:
- Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within Rail, Engineering, Construction, Infrastructure or Civil Engineering.
- Managing high value contracts.
- Understanding of NEC or JCT Contracts.
- Strong experience of cost management, valuations and change control.
- Strong commercial awareness commercial management of projects.
- Excellent communications skills.
- You will work with a variety of different teams internally but also have client interaction, so professional communication will be essential.

Quantity Surveyor responsibilities:
- As Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for managing the commercial and financial performance of multiple, high value projects, from tender stage through to final account.
- Support tender and bid submissions, including pricing and risk assessment.
- Managing project costs, budgets and forecasting.
- Handling variations, change control and valuations.
- Managing subcontractor accounts and payments.
- Supporting risk management and early warning processes.
- Working closely with project, procurement and delivery teams.
