Optimum is seeking an experienced and commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to join our growing Bristol team. Working across a range of construction projects, you will play a key role in managing costs, protecting margins and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and profitably. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking contractor delivering high-quality projects across the South West, with genuine scope for progression within a growing group of specialist divisions.
Duties
- Actively pricing materials and labour for projects and variations, focusing on reducing costs and improving efficiencies, therefore having a real impact on our profitability and, ultimately, our commercial success.
- Working closely with clients at Pre-Tender, Tender Award and Contract Execution project stages.
- Assisting in assembling tender bids for new projects, working closely with all internal departments and external subcontractors on costing and project specific requirements.
- Developing detailed project Cash-Flow forecasts and assisting with setting departmental targets to achieve them.
- Assisting in assembling main contracts for awarded projects up to £10 million.
- Liaising with internal departments to produce main contract & subcontract document packages including, but not limited to, Scope of Works, Quotations, Risk Registers, Valuations Programmes, Cash-flow and Contract Drawings.
- Attending relevant meetings internally and with clients.
- Serving as the main point of contact for the client between handover from Contract Award to Practical Completion – Completing valuations, managing programme and cost changes and maintaining the project files.
- Assisting in developing robust and inclusive requirements for sub-contractor packages on-site.
- Working with Site Managers to generate performance objectives set by forecast project cash-flow.
- Overseeing ongoing project valuations. Working with the Operations Director and Contracts Manager to monitor completion of works on-site against programme.
- Working from the office and on-site as required.
- Maintaining clear lines of communication between your department and all relevant surrounding internal departments.

- At least 3 years of experience in Quantity Surveying, Estimating experience is also beneficial, however, not essential
- Full clean driver’s licence
- Ambitious attitude
- Environmentally and sustainably focused
- Experienced in Drylining, Suspended Ceilings, Plastering, SFS

- Salary negotiable depending on experience
