Your new company
You will be joining a highly respected and specialist contractor based in Coventry operating across the highways, rail, and environmental sectors. This multi-accredited and well-established contractor delivers projects valued up to £6m for the Environment Agency, National Highways, and HS2, and offers excellent opportunities for career progression and professional development. They have a strong pipeline of work and, due to continued success, they are actively seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.
This is a full-time remote position with office and site travel as and when required.
Working hours: 8:30am - 17:00pm
Your new role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of the commercial management of projects from procurement through to final account. Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will play a key role in ensuring financial performance, managing risk, and maintaining strong client relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing subcontract accounts, from procurement to final account settlement
- Reviewing and negotiating contract conditions (primarily NEC)
- Monitoring project costs, revenue, and profitability through CVR analysis
- Preparing and submitting applications for payment and resolving disputes or delays
- Identifying, valuing, and agreeing variations and change orders
- Producing commercial forecasts, final accounts, and loss & expense claims
- Liaising with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure contractual compliance
- Monitoring project performance and supporting risk management

What you'll need to succeed
To excel in this role, you will bring:
- Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying (or similar qualification) or experience equivalent
- Strong working knowledge of NEC forms of contract, ideally Options A and B
- Experience managing subcontractor accounts and procurement processes
- Excellent commercial awareness, negotiation, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills with experience liaising with clients and stakeholders
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel to sites across the UK as and when required (overnight stays are rare)
