Quantity Surveyor – New Build Housing Division (Leeds)
Esh Living’s new build housing division delivers medium-to-large-scale affordable housing, multi-apartment retirement living, and extra care developments, managing projects from early development through pre-construction, technical coordination, and on-site delivery.
About The Role
We’re seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial management of contracts in our sector. Responsibilities include ensuring financial accuracy on projects, streamlining operations, and driving measurable value for the business.
📍 Location: Leeds
Primary Responsibilities
Contract & Financial Management
- Build and maintain working relationships with supply chain, consultants, and clients
- Procure sub-contractors in line with project timelines and Esh’s procurement policies
- Administer sub-contract contracts and compliance processes
Payment & Valuation Processes
- Conduct timely and accurate assessments of sub-contractor applications and issue payment notifications
- Prepare external valuations to align with contract milestones
- Manage forecasting of valuations, culminating in the final account agreement with clients
Quantity & Measurement
- Measure quantities on-site or from drawings, as required
- Evaluate and monitor variations and provisional sums for expenditures

Commercial Reporting & Compliance
- Issue daily labour & plant payments for civil projects
- Prepare internal valuations, sub-contract liabilities, and cost reconciliations as per commercial reporting schedules
- Maintain accurate and quality-driven project records
Risk & Cost Control
- Identify, notify, and track project delays in collaboration with the project team
- Implement effective contract-based change management
- Minimise non-recoverable costs
- Price and negotiate project variations

Qualifications
- Relevant HND, degree in Quantity Surveying, or Built Environment (experience often considered in lieu of formal qualifications)
- Minimum of three years’ experience in construction contract management
- Proficiency with NEC/JCT contract conditions or equivalent
- Competent in MS Office
- CSCS card preferred
- Valid driving licence
