Quantity Surveyor

Quantity Surveyor

Mansfield, Nottinghamshire
Full-Time | Permanent

Shape the commercial success of specialist engineering projects across the UK and Europe.

We're partnering with an established and highly regarded engineering organisation to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team based in Mansfield.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute professional who enjoys taking ownership, influencing project outcomes and working on technically challenging projects within a specialist sector.

Supporting a diverse portfolio of switchgear projects across the UK and Europe, you'll play a pivotal role throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring robust commercial management, effective cost control and proactive risk mitigation while working closely with project teams, clients, consultants and supply chain partners.

The Opportunity

As Quantity Surveyor, you'll be responsible for managing the commercial and contractual aspects of multiple projects from pre-contract stage through to final account.

This is far more than a desk-based role. You'll have the opportunity to engage directly with clients, gaining exposure to a variety of high-profile projects while representing the business at key stages of delivery.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Attending pre-contract meetings with clients, consultants and key stakeholders to support commercial alignment and successful project mobilisation.
  • Travelling to client sites across the UK and Europe to participate in project review meetings.
  • Negotiating and administering subcontract agreements.
  • Preparing and managing interim applications and final accounts.
  • Identifying, valuing and agreeing variations.
  • Producing accurate cost reports, cash flow forecasts and WIP reporting.
  • Managing payments to subcontractors in line with contractual obligations.
  • Assessing and mitigating commercial and contractual risks.
  • Leading negotiations to resolve disputes and minimise project impact.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
