Quantity Surveyor

Quantity Surveyor – South Lanarkshire (£50,000 - £60,000 per annum)

About the Role

Our client is a leading structural steel contractor, delivering cutting-edge building, infrastructure and industrial projects across the UK. With ambitious growth plans, they are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their commercial team and drive financial success on large-scale steelwork and construction projects.

This exciting opportunity allows you to pivot key cost controls, contract administration, and financial reporting, collaborating closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered communally and profitably. You will take ownership of valuations, variations, procurement, and commercial documentation, providing clear commercial direction throughout the entire project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial project delivery: Oversee cost control, contract administration, and financial reporting for large structural steel projects
  • Cost management: Track and manage project costs from tender through to final accounts
  • Valuations and Variations: Prepare applications for payment, handle variations, and provide contractual pricing
  • Contract compliance: Review and administer contract terms to ensure adherence and risk mitigation
  • Stakeholder collaboration: Resolve commercial queries in liaison with project teams, clients, and subcontractors
  • Documentation & reporting: Generate cost reports, forecasts, and financial projections
  • Proactive guidance: Offer strategic commercial advice to support successful project delivery
  • Business growth contribution: Aid the company’s expansion with external reputation through expertise

Ideal Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years’ proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction or structural steel
  • Quantity Surveying expertise: Strong grasp of cost control, commercial processes and financial governance
  • Valuation mastery: Ability to manage valuations, variations and project accounting
  • Contract administration: Experience reviewing and enforcing contracts while minimising risk
  • Procurement leadership: Familiarity with subcontractor engagement and procurement strategies
  • Communication excellence: Persuasive writing and verbal skills for internal and client-facing dialogue
  • Analytical precision: Demonstrated ability to identify trends, errors and opportunities in data
  • Independence with collaboration: Self-driven yet skilled in teamwork
  • Technical skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard construction software suites
  • Mobility requirements: Full UK driving licence + willingness to travel extensively
