Quantity Surveyor (Kent, South London-based)

About the Role

Following an internal promotion, our flourishing South London cyclical painting team is seeking a Quantity Surveyor based in Kent. You’ll join a collaborative commercial and operational team, specialising in painting, decorating, and planned refurbishment works across South London and Kent, working with clients in commercial property development, education, and social housing.

We’re looking for a driven, people-focused Quantity Surveyor who aligns with our values—honesty, integrity, and teamwork. You’ll support our long-term goals for stability and growth in the South East, contributing to our commercial success in an environment where dedication, partnership, and organic growth are core to a prosperous career.

A ‘people person’, you’ll thrive when collaborating with clients, trades, and colleagues while maintaining a clear, analytical approach to negotiation, risk assessment, and financial accountability.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Estimation & Tendering: Actively tender, estimate, and measure contracts, ensuring realistic cost assessments and fostering commercial risk awareness.
  • Cost Management:
    • Prepare cost value reconciliations for contracts.
    • Identify commercial risks and opportunities to optimise contract planning.
  • Operational Coordination:
    • Collaborate with the Contracts Manager to set and monitor productivity labour targets.
    • Implement labour incentives where feasible.
  • Client & Trade Relations:
    • Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and contractors.
    • Negotiate variations and solutions that are mutually beneficial.
  • Weekly Reporting:
    • Compile and analyse onsite reports covering costs (labour rates, performance), budgets, value, progress, quality, and safety.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
