Quantity Surveyor – Dungeness
We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team and play a key role in delivering exceptional commercial results within our national rail infrastructure projects.

The Quantity Surveyor will report to the Commercial Manager and work closely with our contract delivery teams to ensure profitability, cash control and accurate reporting across the board.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Duties
You will play a central role in:
- Assisting with commercial reporting, contract profitability and cost management
- Contributing to credit control applications and income forecasting
- Managing variations, pricing adjustments and change control processes
- Supporting project risk analysis and contractual obligations
- Generating Project Control Valuation Reports (CVRs) & forecasting data
- Overseeing construction techniques and conditions (CTC) compliance
- Monitoring the sub-contract cycle, including documentation and KPI reporting
- Conducting weekly cost reviews and budget comparisons with project teams
- Reviewing third-party records (allocation sheets, site diaries)
- Providing input for monthly financial performance reports
- Building broader commercial knowledge by gaining exposure to project execution and operational practices

- Ensuring adherence to group commercial policies and relevant legislation
- Tracking commercial performance against set KPIs and targets
- Driving lean practices and process efficiencies
- Promoting collaborative planning with contract delivery teams
- Encouraging ongoing professional and interpersonal development
- Optional but benefits from contributing to other commercial initiatives as directed
Expectations
Key performance indicators will be revisited every six months, aligning with the following:
- Timely delivery of accurate cost reports, variance analyses and forecasts
- Support in change control processes and documentation
- Efficient sub-contract placement with strong KPI management
- Proactive adherence to professional development (e.g., maintaining a development log)
- Contribution to audits, internal/external reporting and financial reviews

Qualifications & Requirements
Candidates must meet the following:
- Degree qualified or equivalently exempt (HND/HNC) in a relevant discipline
- Working towards a professional qualification (e.g., MRICS, MRSA)
- Full UK driving license (essential for on-site obligations)
- A minimum of two years’ suitable post-degree construction experience (particularly in commercial surveying)
- Contractual expertise: Understanding of UK construction conditions (e.g., JCT, NEC, ICE)
- Technical proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Excel and other office software
