Quantity Surveyor
Location: Kent
Salary: £60k - £70k PA
The Company
Our client is a reputable main contractor delivering high-quality construction projects across the commercial, leisure, industrial and mixed-use sectors. Due to continued growth and a recently secured leisure development, they are looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join the project team and take responsibility for the commercial management of the scheme from procurement through to final account.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all commercial aspects of a leisure construction project, ensuring financial targets are achieved while maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
The successful candidate will work closely with the site and project delivery teams to maximise project profitability, manage risk and ensure accurate financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Full commercial management of construction projects from pre-construction through to completion.
- Procurement of subcontract packages, including tender enquiries, analysis and recommendation of subcontract awards.
- Preparation and management of subcontract agreements.
- Measurement and valuation of works completed on site.
- Preparation and submission of interim applications and valuations.
- Assessment and agreement of subcontractor applications and variations.
- Management of project budgets, forecasts and cost reporting.
- Identification, valuation and negotiation of variations and change control.
- Preparation of monthly CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliations).
- Monitoring project costs and identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
- Producing accurate financial reports for senior management.
- Assisting with project cashflow forecasting.
- Supporting the preparation and agreement of final accounts.
- Maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
- Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures.
- Working collaboratively with operational teams to drive commercial performance.

Requirements

- Degree or HNC/HND qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
- Previous experience working for a main contractor.
- Experience delivering leisure, commercial, retail, hospitality or mixed-use projects.
- Strong knowledge of JCT contracts.
- Proven experience managing subcontract procurement and accounts.
- Ability to prepare and manage CVRs and monthly reporting.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commercial management systems.
Desirable
- Experience on leisure, hospitality, entertainment or sports-related developments.
- Membership of RICS or working towards chartership.
- Experience managing projects valued between £5m and £50m.
