Quantity Surveyor (M&E) - Hertfordshire (near Hitchin)
Up to £65,000 + progression | Permanent

An established M&E contractor is growing its commercial team following a recent change. They are looking for a Quantity Surveyor with a few years' experience who is ready to step into a broader, more accountable role.
This is an urgent requirement, so candidates on short notice (or immediately available) are highly desirable.
The role
- Manage commercial aspects of projects from start to finish
- Work closely with the Commercial Lead while developing autonomy
- Office based near Hitchin, with site visits across London / South East
- Exposure to varied projects - not siloed or repetitive work
What we're looking for
This role is ideal for someone who already has a strong QS foundation and is looking to step up and take ownership.

You will bring:
- Solid experience in cost control, budgeting, and reporting
- Hands-on involvement in valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Experience supporting or leading subcontractor procurement and management
- Understanding of contract administration
- Ability to track project performance and flag commercial risks
- Strong numerical accuracy with clear, confident communication
- M&E experience would be great but not essential
But most importantly:
- A mindset geared towards progression and accountability
- Confidence to take on more responsibility with the right support
