Job Description
Senior Quantity Surveyor
Competitive Salary + Benefits
North West England
Our Client
Our client is a well-regarded infrastructure contractor operating across a range of civil engineering environments. The business has a strong regional presence and delivers technically demanding projects where cost visibility, programme awareness and close collaboration with site teams are essential. As a result of continued growth across the North West, they are now looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the management of live projects across the region.
The Role
The role will be responsible for maintaining clear visibility across assigned projects, ensuring cost, value, risk, change and cash flow are properly understood throughout the project lifecycle. Working closely with operational, engineering and commercial colleagues, the successful candidate will support effective decision-making and help ensure projects are delivered in line with contractual and financial expectations.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The position will involve preparing and maintaining cost reports, forecasts, cost value reconciliations, valuations, applications for payment and final account documentation. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will also manage subcontract procurement and subcontract accounts, including tender enquiries, evaluation, order placement, payments and variations. A working knowledge of NEC contracts, compensation events, change control and associated project records will be important.
Candidates should bring experience within quantity surveying in construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities or a comparable project-led environment. The role would suit a commercially aware and organised individual who is confident working with site-based teams, able to manage detail accurately and comfortable taking ownership of agreed responsibilities in a fast-paced contracting environment.
