Project Quantity Surveyor

Location: Cornwall
Type: Permanent
Position: Full-Time

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a well-established and growing construction company delivering high-quality, design-focused developments across Cornwall. Our client is seeking an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor to become part of a collaborative commercial team, working on prestigious projects typically valued at £5 million and above. This role offers the chance to take ownership of the commercial aspects of multiple schemes, from procurement through to final account, while working in one of the UK's most sought-after locations.

The Role

As Project Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in ensuring the successful commercial delivery of a varied portfolio of construction projects. Working closely with project teams, consultants, clients, and subcontractors, you'll be responsible for maintaining financial control, managing contractual obligations, and supporting projects throughout the full construction lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial performance of projects from pre-construction through to completion.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Lead procurement activities, tender evaluations, and subcontract negotiations.
  • Prepare and administer subcontract documentation and contractual agreements.
  • Manage interim valuations, payment applications, and certification processes.
  • Oversee change management, including variations, extensions of time, and associated commercial assessments.
  • Monitor subcontractor accounts and negotiate final accounts.
  • Produce monthly cost reports, forecasts, and financial updates for senior management.
  • Monitor project expenditure, cash flow, and commercial performance.
  • Identify commercial risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Support estimating, budgeting, and cost planning activities where required.
  • Ensure contractual compliance throughout each stage of the project.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
