Quantity Surveyor

Our client is a well-established and highly respected structural steel contractor, delivering major building, infrastructure, and industustrial projects across the UK. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team and support the successful delivery of large-scale steelwork and construction projects.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a commercially driven professional to take ownership of:

  • Cost control
  • Contract administration
  • Financial reporting

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed efficiently and profitably.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage valuations, variations, procurement, and contract documentation
  • Provide clear commercial guidance across the project lifecycle
  • Oversee cost control from tender stage through to final account finalisation
  • Handle financial applications, ensuring accurate payment request preparation
  • Review and administer contracts, ensuring compliance
  • Liaise with project teams to resolve commercial issues
  • Prepare commercial documentation, including:
    • Cost reports
    • Cost forecasts
  • Support long-term business growth within a reputable contractor

Requirements

Candidates must possess: ✔ Proven Quantity Surveyor experience in construction or steelwork ✔ Strong knowledge of:

  • Commercial processes
  • Cost control methodologies ✔ Ability to:
  • Manage valuations, variations, and financial reporting
  • Review contracts for compliance ✔ Technical procurement and subcontractor engagement experience ✔ Excellent communication skills for working with:
  • Clients
  • Internal teams ✔ Strong analytical ability and sharp attention to detail ✔ Proficiency with:
  • Industry standard software
  • Microsoft Office tools ✔ Full UK driving licence (with willingness to travel for projects)
