Your new company

A well-established civil engineering and infrastructure organisation is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to provide part-time commercial support on a major highways project. This flexible opportunity is ideal for a commercially astute QS looking for one day per week, working alongside an experienced commercial team on a complex infrastructure scheme.

Your new role

As Quantity Surveyor, your primary responsibility will be the maintenance and development of detailed cost forecasts for a live highways construction project. You will be responsible for reviewing project progress, interpreting construction programmes and ensuring robust forecasting across all cost streams. In addition, you will provide wider commercial support to the project team when required, assisting with day-to-day quantity surveying duties and offering cover across the commercial function during periods of peak workload or absence.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Producing and maintaining accurate cost forecasts across the project lifecycle.
  • Reviewing programme updates and assessing their impact on project costs.
  • Forecasting labour, plant, materials, subcontractor and other project costs.
  • Supporting the commercial team with contract administration and project reporting.
  • Assisting with compensation events, valuations and commercial management activities as required.
  • Ensuring commercial data is accurate, up to date and reported in a timely manner.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
