Aureos are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to work in Portsmouth to form part of the Commercial team. The Quantity Surveyor plays an integral part in delivering exceptional commercial results. Core responsibilities encompass project delivery, commercial reporting and maximising profit. We work collaboratively with our customers to deliver critical national infrastructure projects across the UK’s rail network. With sustainable growth in mind, our Quantity Surveyor is responsible for assisting the commercial team in completing and maintaining well organised records, contribution to the timely production of applications for payment and accurate project reporting. Job Content Primary tasks and duties: Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will assist the commercial team in providing support to the contract delivery team to ensure the profitability, cash management, cost control and accurate reporting of all schemes. Your role will require you to: – Input into the application and credit control processes – Understanding of income forecast and pricing of variations – Understanding of the change control system – Understanding of project risk – Understanding of the production of CVRs – Understanding of CTC – Understanding the production of forecasting data – Understanding the costing process – Understanding the management of the full sub-contract cycle and input into sub-contract documentation – Assisting with weekly cost to complete/budget reviews with the contract delivery teams. – Upload documentation as and when necessary, in line with business requirements – Review weekly site records including allocation sheets and site diaries. – Attend project progress meetings. – Assisting with the preparation of monthly financial performance reports – Gain experience outside of the commercial function to better understand the role of the business and the quantity surveyor within the business. Secondary tasks and duties: We operate a team ethos across the Rail Business Unit and strive to assist colleagues in the execution of their duties where this is appropriate and brings added value. The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for the following in this respect: ● Ensure that the group commercial policies are adhered to and that the requirements of legislation are met ● Manage commercial performance against business targets and KPI’s ● Working with the commercial and operational teams to strive for continuous improvement ● Promote a culture of integration, continuous improvement and use of best practice across the client base ● Assisting with the use of key lean tools to drive efficiencies and reduce waste ● Encourage, support and assist with the delivery of successful collaborative planning with the contract delivery teams ● Commitment to their own professional development, and that of others across the Business Unit ● Other tasks appropriate to the role of Quantity Surveyor, as identified by the Senior Quantity Surveyor/Managing Surveyor

Expectations Targets for the Quantity Surveyor will be set and reviewed on a 6 monthly basis, aligned with the responsibilities and behaviours listed within this job description. The section below will be used to record key targets, which will align with Performance Reviews undertaken via the current Group process. The Quantity Surveyor is expected to: ● Contribute to the timely achievement of forecast figures for turnover, profit and income ● Contribute to timely production of accurate internal accounts and internal/external reports/audits ● Contribute to timely production of accurate cost and forecasting information ● Contribute to change control system ● Contribute to prompt placement and payment of sub-contracts. Maintenance of sub-contract KPI reports ● Maintain Professional Development Log Person Specification Qualifications and Training Essential: Degree educated or HND/HNC equivalent. Working towards Professional Qualification Desirable: Driving license Knowledge Essential: Suitable post degree experience working in contracting commercial department preferably within the rail industry Knowledge of and ability to interpret construction industry conditions of contract Desirable: N/A Skills and abilities Essential: Proficient in Microsoft packages (Excel) Desirable: N/A
