Quantity Surveyor
Location: Guildford, near-based role with opportunity to travel across regional projects
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Galliford Try as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally based in the Guildford area. This role presents the chance to support multi-site and regional projects while growing within a dynamic and ambitious UK principal contractor.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Financial Oversight
- Analysis of tender allowances
- Measurement & valuation of works (on-site and from drawings) for:
- valuations
- variations
- final accounts
- Agreement of valuation dates and preparation/submission of interim valuations
- Administration/advice on Main Contract and Subcontract conditions
- Management of subcontract payments, variations, and final accounts
- Submission of cost value reconciliations
- Preparation of cost to complete projections
- Cash management & optimisation including cash flow and turnover forecasting
- Generation of standard reporting requirements
- Execution of internal valuations/takeoff valuations (CVRs) and subcontract liability reports, aligned with scheduled accounting periods and deadlines
Procurment & Process Management
- Oversight of subcontract and design procurement
About You
Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience in the construction industry, preferably with a main contractor specialising in Design and Build (D&B)
- Strong working knowledge of JCT and NEC contract conditions
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Degree-level qualification (or equivalent) with membership of RICS or IOB (or making firm progress toward professional membership)
